12 Strings Guitar
After almost 12 years, I finally got my Yamaha FG-512 12 string guitar back from a good friend. He has really got to be a good friend since he was willing to keep my guitar in the closet for more than a decade! What prompted me to do it? Well, I’m not sure about other guitarists out there but I’m the kind that likes to play different types of guitar at different times, sometimes driven by mood, or just fancy. I just kinda missed playing it, lots.
Of course, it was not in the same condition as it was. Come to think of it, I got this guitar in 1981 so it must have been mine for almost 27 years now. Man, sure makes me feel old. I can still remember having it at the age of 18 prior to my NS. The action of the guitar was a tad high so that makes pressing the chords (especially bar chords) harder. That takes away some fun in playing it.
Today i went down to “Guitar Connection” one of the 2 shops that has does repairs. It was a simple “rustic” setup. The guy saw that it was this FG-512 and said that it is a good model. I was glad and having read up a bit on the review concerning it (Harmony Central is a good review site of guitars especially) and so was pleased with that affirmation. I just hope after the guy heat up the neck to straighten it and modfies the action, it becames a pleasure to strum the guitar again. Must try to remember to ask how to tune the 12 strings properly. How long more to wait? Well, the guy says 2 weeks time. So until then . . .
