It’s About Time

A couple of days ago at GIANThyper-mart parking lot, just as I was about to finish parking my car, a van pulled up and the bespectacled driver mumbled something both in dialect and Mandarin which I could hardly decipher.  He then park his van next to mine and opened up his side door and showed me boxes of home theater sound systems.

He said he’s not selling stuff but getting rid of brand new merchandize with no strings attached.  I became suspicious.  While I like the idea of owning a home theatre system, I don’t want to implicated in anyway as accomplice to a burglary or theft or looting of nearby shop.  I decline the guy’s offer and his partner laughed at the fact that I would pass up a wonderful opportunity to have new equipment.  After trying to persuade me to take the merchandize FOC, they drove away, mumbling something beneath their breadth.. 

 Why did i not take it? AFter all, it might be a real case of somebody wanting to dump off or offload excess stuff. For me, it can’t be real if somebody offer to give me a brand new home theater sound system with no strings attached.  SOmebody once said, If something is too good to be true; then that thing is not good.

 Besides, I have more to lose than anybody else. Firstly, what would people think of me the Pastor who was caught on tape accepting stolen goods?  My testimony would be crushed.  Secondly, common sense tells me that nobody would leave their valuables with strangers in a car.  What if it is a police set-up and I walk right into an entrapment which I could get caught. Again my testimony goes down the toilet bowl. 

Well, someone once said: “if somethings are too good to be true, then it’s too good to be true.”

 I saw the vanstopping a short distance away from me and the same driver spoke to another person, who likewise agree.
