Theirry Heny & Arsenal again

without comments

Well, the inevitable has come, finally.  Thierry Henry has signed for Barcelona and revealed before the sporting media today. That sure would dampened the spirit of Arsenal fans worldwide.  Alas, such is life, the golden rule says, he who has the gold – rules.

The typical media hype is what’s going to happen to Arsenal?  Media speculation aims to generate readership for obvious reasons.  One mustn’t forget that football isn’t a one-man show though it is easy often to forget this vital point. What makes football such a beautiful game is that it is a team effort with individual genius.  No other game appeals to such massive crowds on weekly or even daily basis.

No doubt Arsene Wenger isn’t going to commit to another stretch of time as a manager which would upset folks.  Let alone ruffle up the current crop of players.  This will likewise affect morale here and there.   but then again such is the sporting life, service goes to the best bidder.

I think Arsenal will far and I secretly hope that Arsenal would strive harder and surprise everyone by their EPL standing compared to last seasons, and one or two silverware too!

Life so far. . .

without comments

Well, it’s been quite a while since my last blog entry and my, lots of things have happened since.   Ministry-wise, the FBFI meeting came and went.  Local church ministry wise, the church camp came and went.  Home-front? Amanda has developed so much in these months that it is simply amazing how she has grown.

First, the FBFI was kind of a disappointment for me personally.  I had anticipated preaching that is solid, and by that I meant expository, not just homilies or sermons that is dumped-down to the point which I think is condescending to our locals.  Of course, the good part is that I get to meet some local preachers whom I have heard about (at least names) but not met personally nor get acquainted with.  So this part is good albeit the nagging feeling that it is predominantly a BJU-OBA milieu.  J

However, the church camp was well attended in the sense that we had a good turnout though some changes had transpired since our last one at Sebana Cove in 2005.  Sofitel is inland, so coastal activity is non-existent.  The men did an outstanding job of getting the work done and people were happy about it.  The Hensons did a far more outstanding job than those guys did at FBFI meeting for sure!  Our folks were ministered unto through the theme “that I may know Him.”  Of course, not all folks benefited directly due to varied seasons in life.  Most of them I am sure benefited from this years’ emphasis.  Jismyl remarked that lesser camper participation than the last camp but I reckoned that it’s because more senior folks attended this year and naturally disinclined to participate in more physical or active type of activity.  Folks like my mother-in-law for example, apart from the meal, could not have an active part in the camp.  still, I think the camp was enjoyable and realizing as a whole – at least that is my opinion.

Amanda – what can I say except be thankful to the Lord for her development?  Her vocabulary is fascinating and better yet, her ability to interact with adults showed her intellectual level at 2.5 years of age.  She has grown taller and faster too.  She loves singing no doubt, and reading too.  it remains to be seen how she will develop linguistically since we haven’t actually started her off on the Chinese language itself.     My eyes are closing fast as I am typing this entry. Yawn.  Need to shut down for the night.
